Plugs &

Jacks

-

Standard &

Mini

Thermocouple

plugs and

jacks

are made from thermocouple alloys

to

insure accuracy

through

out the thermocouple

circuit.

Types

R, S,

and C,

plugs and

jacks

use

compensating

alloys. All

Richards plugs

are

made

with solid

pins

to prevent

loosening

of the

con-

tacts.

The

pins are

also

polarized

to prevent

making mismatched

connections. The connector

bodies

are color

coded

for easy

iden-

tification.

The

plugs and

jacks

are

available

in

standard (with

round

pins) and

a

smaller

mini (flat pins) version.

Mounting:

Plugs can be

mounted

on

a

thermocouple

element

with

a compression

type tube

adapter

(TA)

and

screws, compression

type

insert (TAI), crimp

insert (Cl), or brazing

insert

(Bl).

Jacks can

also be

mounted

to

extension

wire with

a

cable

clamp

(CL).

Wiring:

Standard style

plugs

and

jacks

will

accept wires up

to

20

gauge.

Larger gauges such

as

14,

1

1

,

or

I

should use

the

iab

style

connectors.

Mini

plugs can

use 20

gauge

or

smaller thermocouple

wire.

Note:

The

standard

style

plugs

and

jacks

shown

on

this

page are offered

in

two body

styles.

The only major difference between

the

two

is

the

maximum

temperature

ranges.

The

style

"b"

has

a

slightly higher service temperature

of

425"F

(218"C).

The

style

"a"

has

a

maximum

service

temperature

of

350"F

(175'C).

The functionality of the connectors and quality of the alloys

is

the same.

All

style variations

will

plug into each

other.

The difference

between

the two is

a

matter

of

personal

preference.

The

photo on

the

right, shows the

two

styles. Style

"a"

is

shown

as standard.

lf

you

would

like to order the style

"b"

just

add a small

b

to the end

of

the cata-

log

number.
