Resolution of Intent for Middle Grades
Career-Technical Education
Ohio Revised Code Section 3313.90(A) requires a board of education not providing career-
technical education for grades 7 and 8 to adopt annually a resolution declaring its intent
not to provide such training programs. A template of this resolution is available on the
BASA home page under Hot Topics. The instructions for filing this resolution through your
SAFE account can be found here:
http://education.ohio.gov/getattachment/Topics/Career-Tech/CTE-Middle-Grade-Programming/MS-Waiver-Instructions-6-28-16.pdf.aspx.
The annual deadline for filing such a resolution is September 30.
Required Compliance Certification for Foods
and Beverages Sold at School
Ohio law requires each school district board of education to adopt and enforce nutrition
standards governing the types of food and beverages available for purchase on school
premises. Please note that schools are required to report compliance annually to the Ohio
Department of Education and submit the report by Friday, Sept. 30.

Calamity Day Reminder
If your district is contemplating either on-line lessons or blizzard bags as an option for
instructional time lost due to weather conditions next school year, you are reminded that
your Board does need to pass its resolution soon so that you can forward it to the Ohio
Department of Education prior to August 1. The section of law covering this option is at
ORC 3313.482.
