T. O. Bobe
T.O. Bobe (born 1969 in Constanţa, Romania) is a poet and
writer for film and television.
His oddly beguiling cult classic
Bucla (Curl)
was republished
last year in a deluxe Romanian edition. It’s a series of 37
prose-ish/poem-ish pieces about Mr. Gica, the world’s
greatest barber. The series uses its mundane subject to stage
a meditation on Romanticism, irony, and sincerity, through
poems about and by Mr. Gică, and his world of opera singers,
football players, gladiators, the secret police, fantasies of
Edith Piaf, four lost hippies, and other ludic figures. This is
its English-language debut.
