MirceaCartarescu
Mircea Cărtărescu (born 1956 in Bucharest, Romania) is a
renowned poet, novelist and essayist, with awards including
from the Romanian Academy, Romanian Writers Union,
Grand Prix of the Novi Sad International Poetry Festival, and
the international literature prize of the Haus der Kulturen der
Welt, in Berlin. His last novel in English was shortlisted for the
Best Translated Book Award in 2014. He has served as editor
at the
Caiete Critice
magazine, and is presently Associate
Professor at the Chair of Romanian Literary History, University
of Bucharest Faculty of Letters.
His latest novel,
Solenoid
, is a densely woven shifting
palimpsest. This is its debut in English.
