SUMMER OF AMSTERDAM
Amsterdam hosts more than 300 festivals each year,
from outdoor lm fairs to multi-day dance-music parties
and from culinary fêtes to chamber music in Golden Age
canal houses.
The city becomes a stage in June, when top-ight
performers from all over the globe descend on Amsterdam
for the Holland Festival, a spectacular month of culture
straddling theatre, dance, music and more. Then the Royal
Concertgebouw Orchestra picks up the baton for two
months of world-class performances, taking in everything
from classical music to cabaret during the Robeco
SummerNights programme. August’s Grachtenfestival
(‘Canal Festival’), meanwhile, takes classical music out of
the concert hall and into unique locations around the city,
culminating in the spectacular (and free) canal-side
Prinsengracht Concert.
Whatever your cultural preferences, a full summer of
artistic enlightenment awaits!
