ETHICAL DECISION MAKING
You authorise a medical test to ensure a Client`s recovery:
Principle of Beneficence
You do with the full knowledge that the test will result in pain
and discomfort to the Client:
Principle of Non-malfeasance
The Principles of Beneficence and Non-malfeasance are in
conflict with one another (they are inconsistent)
You must make an ethical prioritisation between the two (2)
options (of action) that is in the best interests of the Client
Option 1: Authorise the medical test
Option 2: Refrain from causing harm (pain) and forgo the test
