Cleaning extruding
equipment
In extensively automated working pro-
cesses, such as the extrusion of cables,
the only possibility to reduce costs is to
reduce scrap, energy usage and machine
downtime, and to extend the lifetime of
tools and machine parts such as extruder
screws.
The use of effective cleaning technology
can help to achieve the optimisation
of costs.
Machinery –Technology – Trading GmbH
(MTT) has developed a wide range of
equipment for the cleaning of extruder
screws, machine parts, extrusion tooling
and crossheads using micropeening
technology.
Micropeening is a dry cleaning process.
A defined blasting agent is shot by
compressed air, at room temperature,
onto the surface of the part to be
cleaned.
The blasting agent consists of thermo-
set polymer and can be described as
working like many tiny chisels, so that all
thermoplastic, duroplastic and elastomer
particles are removed by a mechanical
process – without heating and solvents,
and without damage to even highly
polished surfaces.
The blasting agent has no negative
effects on the cleaned surface of the
parts, in contrast to the standard cleaning
methods (burning, scarping, brushing
and solvents) and increases the lifetime
of parts.

to HV power cable
This rigid stranding line from C M Caballe has been redesigned and upgraded in
collaboration with energy cable manufacturers, to include the following improvements:
A pintle operated by a motoreducer for perfect holding of the bobbins, even
•
with different widths. It requires less maintenance than a typical pneumatically
operated pintle
Accurate wire tension control by specially designed spring-free pneumatic brakes
•
Fully automatic loading system that reloads the complete line in 12 minutes
•
Self-centring rollers and compacting heads for Milliken conductors
•
A range of accessories allows the manufacture of the following products:
Compacted conductors of copper and aluminium for LV, MV and HV insulated
•
conductors
Sector conductors (Milliken) of copper and aluminium for HV insulated conductors
•
Aluminium (AAAC, ACSR,) aerial conductors with round or trapezoidal wires
•
Screening with copper wires (single or multi-wire) for MV and HV conductors
•
Armouring with galvanized steel wires

The fully automatic PS 200/8 Combo fromPS
Costruzioni Meccaniche is capable of wind-
ing power cable onto either coils or spools,
reducing customer investment – a single
line can produce two different products.
PS’s design engineers have also paid
particular attention to improving the shape
of the final product.
PS 200/8 Combo can handle the following
range of cables:
