Focusing specifically on the offshore oil and gas sector, Figures 7 and 8 below illustrate a steady decline
in non-fatal and over-three-day/over-seven-day injuries

. However, the combined fatal and major injury rate
increased by approximately 13 per cent last year. Although there were zero fatalities in 2012/2013, the number of
major injuries recorded in that period were 47, 11 more than in 2011/2012, which may explain this increase in the
combined injury rate.
