System88 for pipe transpor t
FOR more than 23 years, Dhatec
has been working on a research and
development programme that keeps
pipes in optimal condition during
logistics of line pipes. Several solutions
have emerged to improve safety of the
logistic process.
Dhatec offers solutions to carry
heavy pipe loads safely and damage-
free around the world. System88 is a
solution for single- and multi-layer pipe
transport, for coated and non-coated
pipes.
Carl Polzin Bremen bought System88
for several projects in the UK, USA and
Canada. Commenting on the system,
the company’s management said: “Carl
Polzin Bremen is using System88 to
transport coated and uncoated pipes
on trucks from the port of discharge to
final destination (warehouse or storage
yard) to serve various oil and gas
projects.
“System88 is very
convenient to set up
and provides a safe and
sustainable opportunity
for pipe transport, as
it can be adjusted to
different diameters and
reused frequently. There
is also a lot of additional
supply such as straps to
fix it onto trailers.”
The patented design
of the adjustable trans-
port system is claimed
to eliminate the disadvantages of other
support systems. System88 consists
of a zinc-plated steel profile on which
LDPE blocks can be positioned that
are secured with safety pins. Due
to the wedge-shaped blocks, pipes
are supported sideways, and risks
for ovality are reduced. Each pipe is
blocked separately. Finite element
analysis shows almost four times less
displacement and almost two times less
stress compared to a situation where
pipes are supported by a (wooden)
beam.
Dhatec states that System88 has
been implemented in the pipeline
industry, and that thousands of trains
and trucks have been equipped with
the adjustable transport system.
Because safe and efficient transport
is ensured, System88 is increasingly
being selected for large-scale projects.
