Emerald Ash Borer,
an invasive
insect pest native to eastern Asia that
has killed millions of ash trees in the
Midwest. This pest was discovered
to have moved into New Jersey killing
trees for the first time in 2014. The
good news is that ash trees can be
protected from this insect with spe-
cial treatments. When an inventory
is in place, the association knows
the exact number and location of
all of their community ash trees. A
defensive treatment plan can then be
quickly developed and put into action
to protect these trees before the pest
arrives.
