Background
•
Ginger rhizome is a widespread medicinal herb,
both in the eastern and western medical traditions
•
The constituents that the medicinal properties
have been historically ascribed to are
gingerols
and
shogaols
; more recently, also
paradols
; collectively
referred to as pungent principles. Quantitation of
gingerdiols
and
gingerdiones
is also conducted.
•
Ginger is most commonly employed as an anti‐
emetic, anti‐dyspeptic, anti‐inflammatory,
carminative, anti‐thrombotic
