The President.

The Council have elected Mr. Alexander D.

Orr, of 5 Foster Place, Dublin, to be President

of the Society for the ensuing twelve months.

The newly-elected President was admitted

in Trinity Sittings, 1900;

he became a

member of the Council in 1918, and was a

Vice-President of the Society in 1921-22.

The Vice-Presidents.

The Council have elected Mr. Thomas W.

Delany, of Longford, and Mr. Henry P.

Mayne, of 6 Dawson Street, Dublin, to be

Vice-Presidents of the Society for the ensuing

twelve months.

OBITUARY.

MR. THOMAS J. HARBISON, Solicitor, died

upon

the 22nd November, 1930, at his

residence, Loy, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone.

Mr. Harbison served his apprenticeship

with his cousin, Mr. John Harbison, Maghera-

felt, Co. Londonderry; was admitted in

Trinity Sittings,

1891, and practised at

Cookstown.

From 1918-22 he was Member of Parlia–

ment for East Tyrone, and from 1922-24 he

was Member for Fermanagh and Tyrone, and

again in 1929 until his death.

In the Parlia–

ment of Northern Ireland he was Member

from 1921-29 for Fermanagh and Tyrone.

POLICE REPORTS.

As a result of representations made by the

Council arrangements have been made for the

resumption of

the practice of furnishing

abstracts from police reports in connection

with street accidents. The information con–

tained in the abstract will, as heretofore, be

confined to the facts observed at the scene of

the occurrence by the member of the Garda

who either witnesses it or conducts the

subsequent investigations, together with the

names

and addresses

of

the principals

concerned in the occurrence, and the names

of witnesses. A fee of five shillings will be

payable for each abstract.

In no circum–

stances will copies of statements made by

either principals or witnesses be supplied.

If

a police prosecution be either pending or

contemplated, an abstract will not be supplied

until the police proceedings have terminated.

THE SOCIETY'S CALENDAR, 1931.

Members are requested to send to the

Secretary, 45 Kildare Street, Dublin, a note

of any corrections which they desire to suggest

to be made in the compiling of the Calendar

for 1931.

HILARY LECTURES, 1931.

The Junior (Common Law) Lectures will

begin on Wednesday, 14th January.

The Senior (Real Property and Equity)

Lectures will

begin

on Tuesday,

13th

January.

The lectures for both classes will be held in

the Royal College of Surgeons at 2.15 p.m.
