Reaching the summit
Scaling new heights features heavily in this issue of Wire & Cable
ASIA, with Sket reaching the summit in producing the world’s largest
machine for the armouring of offshore power cables.
The machine has been supplied to a Scandinavian cable producer for
the armouring of offshore power cable with a diameter up to 350mm.

And fibre-to-the-home in the Asia-Pacific region has also reached a
milestone with 100 million people in the region now being subscribed
to the services, according to the FTTH Council Asia-Pacific. The full
story is on page 12.
Recognition is also important, and Metalube – with offices in both
China and India – has collected its second Queen’s Award for
Enterprise, this time for innovation. Details are on page 22.
Attention must also move to the USA in this issue, with Interwire – the
largest wire and cable show in America – being staged in Atlanta at the
