This conclusion is s u p p o r t ed by o b s e r v a t i o ns of the work
of the b a c k - up centres a nd public interest law centres, for
which we have no c o u n t e r p a rt at present.
Wh e re public f u n d i ng has not been provided, the lifting
of advertising restrictions in the USA has helped private
practitioners to develop imp r ov ed services a nd to reduce
fees. There is g o od reason to s u p p o s e, as was argued mo re
fully in my first article, that similar a d v a n t a g es could be
achieved here.
