For students entering ninth grade on or after July 1, 2017, at least one-
half credit in the study of world history and civilizations will also be
required for graduation.

YEAR, SCHOOL
A school district calendar may provide for the equivalent of up to three
days for the early release of seniors prior to graduation and the
equivalent of up to three days when “only a portion of the kindergarten
students” are in attendance in order to facilitate the “gradual orientation
to school of such students.”
Technically, “the school year” begins on the first day of July and ends on
June 30 of the succeeding calendar year.

If a student seeking admission to a school which the pupil is eligible to
attend, no school official can admit the student until the special reports
identified in ORC 5139.51 have been received by the district
superintendent of schools.
