A t the w estern end of the church is a chapel,

originally the cem etry o f an an cient fam ily w hich

b o re the nam e o f

Trolle

(ogre or w izard). B u t in

1 7 4 3 , C h ristian V I. p u rc h ase d this chapel, (when

the coffins of the T ro lle fam ily w ere rem oved to

the v a u lt below ), and allotted it as a receptacle for

th e rem ains o f A n n a S o p h ia , (d au g h ter o f H igh

C hancellor C onrad R eventlau), the second consort of

F red erik I V ., and h e r c h ild ren , w hich occupy the

black m arble m onum ents w ithin. T h e original door

of iron trellis w o rk has, how ever, been left untouched,

an d o f w hich a larg e S atanic fig u re, th e T rolle

crest, form s p a rt.

Such an a p p aritio n in a conse­

crated building m ay well induce the beh older to

exclaim , "W h a t business h a s he h e re ? ”
