Childcare

The most popular childcare options for full-time working parents are au pairs, all-day babysitters and

in-home care providers. Several agencies in Munich offer assistance in finding the appropriate child-

care.

Kindergarten

Most children in Germany go to a kindergarten between the ages of three and six, although it is not

compulsory. The law guarantees a place for every child, however finding vacancies in a kindergarten

can be difficult. Therefore, flexibility may be required when choosing a kindergarten. It may not be

possible to send one’s child to the nearest kindergarten. Children can usually attend half-day or all

day.
