Ever wonder who is respon- ,

sible for athletics at USD? The

answer is Tom Iannacone, Di·

rector of Athletics. Beginning

his third year at USD, he has

already began making his

mark here. In the past two

years he has authorized addi–

tional scholarship assistance,

expanded the weight facility,

computerized the Sports Cen-

ter, renovated the gymnasi-

um, and installed a new pool

deck. With experience behind

him, future additions to the

University might include an

entire new sports center.

Overall, his job is quite de–

manding. He must manage all

administrative and organiza–

tional aspects of the

intramural, recrea-

tion and intercolle-

giate programs at

USD. To add to his

responsibilities, he

must manage the

budget, all person–

nel, programs and

facilities.

Do you feel he has

too much to do al–

ready? Fortunately

he has two assis–

tants. Dan Yourg
