Craniospinal irradiation

Medulloblastoma

• Primitive neuro-ectodermal tumour which arises most commonly in the

cerebellum

• Most common primary CNS tumour in children (20%) but uncommon in

adults (0.5 cases per 100,000)

• Most commonly arises in the posterior fossa

– Spread commonly in craniospinal axis

– Systemic metastasis is uncommon but reported

– Presenting symptoms:

Hydrocephalus related symptoms

Cerebellar symptoms

Leptomeningeal symptoms
