George S. Braucht
is a Licensed Professional
Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor
with over 14,000 hours of supervised psychotherapy and
applied community psychology experience in alcohol and
other drug, crisis intervention and mental health services.
He specializes in workforce development and continuous
quality and outcome improvement consulting. Besides
teaching psychology, George also enjoy facilitating
behavioral health and healing justice trainings with
professional and peer service providers. During a 27Ǧyear
career with criminal justice agencies, he designed and
implemented the Enhanced Supervision Program, a
professional workforce development initiative for
probation/parole/correctional officers, counselors, and
other reentry service providers; established a statewide
parolee recovery outpatient counseling program and inǦprison residential substance
abuse treatment programs; implemented the Transitional Housing for Offender Reentry
Directory; established Georgia’s first day reporting centers and managed two statewide
reentry initiatives. He is a Senior Instructor of the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and
Training Council. In 2010 George coǦfounded the Certified Addiction Recovery
Empowerment Specialist or CARES Academy for peer service providers that operates in
several states. More recently he assisted in developing Recovery Residence Manager and
Recovery Capital Scale trainings. George serves on the Board of the Georgia Association of
Recovery Residences and he is a Charter Board Member and Affiliates Committee CoǦ
chair of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. Since 2008, George has been a
Certified Trainer with the Heart and Soul of Change Project who’s Partners for Change
Outcome Management System is detailed in SAMHSA’s National Registry of EvidenceǦ
based Programs and Practices.
