Five poems

Christine de Luca

Christine De Luca is one of

Scotland's foremost contemporary

poets, as well as a novelist and

translator, who writes in Shetland

dialect, a blend of Scots with

strong Norse influence, and in

English. She is presently the

Makar

(Poet Laureate) of Edinburgh.

Her poems have been translated

into Italian, Norwegian, Icelandic, Swedish, Danish,

Finnish, Latvian, Estonian, Polish, Austrian-German and

Welsh.

The poems in this selection have been translated by the

poet from her native Shetlandic Scots.
