Literacy Association brings you an annual edition of
Reading Matters
. Sarah Hunt-Barron and Jacquelynn Malloy,
co-editors, work diligently with committee members to
produce a quality professional journal to support literacy
educators. On behalf of SCIRA, I am honored as this
year’s president to bring greetings in this 2016 edition.
Reading Matters
articles are contributed by educators
and other professionals committed to the continuous
improvement of literacy instruction. As an organization,
we appreciate and value the submissions. It is our hope
that you are challenged and inspired by this edition.
SCIRA is a non-profit organization. Our goal is the
improvement of literacy. We are affiliated with the
International Literacy Association. Through an annual
conference, literacy workshop, newsletters, journal, website
and social media, SCIRA provides professional development.
Educators are encouraged to grow professionally through
scholarship opportunities, grants for Teachers as Readers,
Literature Grants, and Community Service Grant Awards.
