club with so many great players and they
push a lot of players through from the
Academy to the first team and given that
opportunity it was a no brainer.
“I loved my time in the Falcons Academy
but it was such a great opportunity to come
over here to a great club with great players
and great coaches and a really good
vision. Speaking to Kieran (Campbell),
Alex (Colding) and Neil (Doak), there is a
clear vision here to push Academy players
through and I thought the best environment
going forward would be with Ulster.”
The 18-year-old put in an impressive
performance against Bristol at the
weekend:
“That was one of the main attractions
coming to Ulster that I would get these
opportunities and it’s not just me - Rob
Lyttle, Andy Macgrath and Liam Free
were the four 18-year-olds in the squad.
We get to train with the senior players and
learn so much from them. We are thrown
into the deep end and we’re put into that
environment and that makes us better.
The blend of youth and experience against
Bristol worked really well, it was really good
fun and good to get the win after two rough
inter-pros.
“That win gives us massive momentum
going into Bedford. The Bristol win is
worth nothing unless we back it up. With
a performance like that we can take
confidence and high expectations when
travelling this weekend. I think we have
a good shot at building momentum and
going far in this tournament.”
The A team travel to another English
Championship team, Bedford, tomorrow
(kick off 2.45pm) and they will be keen to
back up their victory at Kingspan Stadium.
Good luck lads!
“WE KNEWWE HAD TO PUT
IN A PERFORMANCE ANDWE
DID THAT, WE WERE PRETTY
CLINICAL AND I THOUGHT IT
WAS A GREAT TEAM EFFORT.”
