Lauren Wilcox

University of Toronto, Engineering

As Head Junior Don in her graduating year,

Lauren and the Junior Don Boarding team

planned many fun and engaging events for the

Boarding community. She enjoyed her time living

at Havergal because of the sense of community

she felt with her fellow Boarders, who became her family away from

home. “What I learned during my time at Havergal is that the more

you put into something, the more you get out of it,” says Lauren. She is

currently studying Engineering at the University of Toronto, where she

is interested in learning more about the environment and sustainability.

She thanks her Grade 12 Physics teacher for fostering her passion for

science and the environment.

Karishma Singh

Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland,

Medicine

Karishma describes her time at Havergal as

“confidence building.” During her six years in

the Upper School, she enjoyed participating in

many of the co-curricular opportunities available

at the school such as the Environment Club, the volleyball team, the

basketball team and the Derrydown Saturday Community Partnership

(in which she led activities for young students with varying physical and

intellectual abilities). She was also Co-Head of Beatstock, a student-

organized music event in support of one of the school’s community

partnerships, and led her House as House Captain. In her graduating

year, Karishma was the recipient of the J. Herbert Mason Medal, which

is the school’s highest character award. Currently studying medicine at

Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Karishma attributes her love of

chemistry to her science teachers.

Orli Silverberg

Western University, Medical Sciences and

Ivey Program; Scholar’s Electives Program

As the daughter of an Old Girl, Orli knew that

Havergal was the right fit for her. As a violinist,

she welcomed the many opportunities she

was given to perform at school, whether with

the Senior Orchestra, with the Chamber Group or during Prayers.

Outside Havergal, Orli was a member of the Toronto Symphony Youth

Orchestra and The Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young

Artists. She was also active in Havergal athletics as a member of the

swimming, volleyball, soccer and track & field teams. In her senior

year, Orli developed a community partnership with Holland Bloorview

Kids Rehabilitation Hospital in which students performed music for

the young patients of Bloorview. Currently, Orli is studying at Western

University in the Medical Sciences and Ivey program; she is proud to be

a member of the university’s exclusive Scholar’s Electives program.
