Unfunded mandates take up WAY too much of
our time as educators. Let us simply teach!

Some of the young teachers coming
into the profession show great promise.

Governor’s Intern for Governor James R.
Thompson in 1990.
Biggest concern about public education:
Fair
and equitable funding for elementary and
secondary education. Small rural schools have
to provide the same quality education as
property rich suburban schools do with far less
funding per pupil.
Most encouraging thing about public
education:
Despite the challenges I firmly
believe public schools in Illinois are doing the
best job we have ever done…delivering high
quality, data driven, student-centered instruction.
