Williams-Sonoma, Inc. embarked on the

journey to source wood more responsibly by

joining World Wildlife Fund’s Global Forest

& Trade Network (GFTN) in 2008. With

support from the GFTN, we developed our

Wood Procurement Policy, began collecting

and verifying data on our wood supply chain,

and introduced wood certified to the Forest

Stewardship Council® (FSC) standard.

To build on this work, we developed our

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Responsible Raw

Material Standard for Wood in partnership

with Rainforest Alliance. Our current standard

includes a tiered approach, classifying

responsibly sourced wood as “good”, “better” and

“best.”
