• ORGANIC WOOL

What could be more natural than wool? Many people think that wool is organic

since it is a natural fibre, while others use the term in an everyday manner simply

to express that the fibre has not been treated with strong chemicals.

There is however a deeper meaning to the word organic, which doesn’t refer to

where a product comes from, but instead to how the food and product was grown

and processed using nature-friendly methods. Wool’s journey from a grazing sheep

to one of Ruskovilla’s wool tops is a long one. The certification of wool as organic

begins with the soil on which the sheep graze, continues on to the wellbeing of the

sheep and then moves on to the processing, washing, spinning, dyeing and knitting,

etc., of the wool.

Everything comes down to the wellbeing of the pasture and the sheep: attention is

paid to the fertility of the soil, crop rotation, the nutrition and health of the sheep,

and pest control. Synthetic pesticides, hormones, vaccinations, and genetic modifica-

tion are prohibited. Good livestock practice and breed-specific treatment are a given.

The principle behind organic production is to produce products whose manufactur-

ing methods are not harmful to the environment or to the health and wellbeing of

people, plants, and animals.

Nothing beats wool when it comes to comfort, warmth, elasticity or versatility. And

when you source your wool organically from Ruskovilla, you can be sure it’s the best

in the world.
