Bache-Gabrielsen

DISTILLERY OVERVIEW

Cognac Bache-Gabrielsen, originally founded in 1905 by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen from

Norway, is a family-run business that is now in its 4th generation. Several generations later

the business is still owned and run by the family. Today, Bache-Gabrielsen is one of the few

remaining traditional, family-run cognac houses, and it continues to occupy premises in the

center of Cognac. Combining a rich family and architectural history, the company is rapidly

modernizing, as it is now being run by Thomas’ great-grandson Hervé, who recently took over

the day-to-day management from his father.

DISTILLING PHILOSOPHY

Bache-Gabrielsen collaborates with a variety of Cognac growers in the region. This is an

interesting approach, as it allows them to source a variety of different vintages from the

different growing areas. It also means they are not solely tied to the yearly harvest from their

own vineyards, but instead can vary the blends by sourcing from different producers. This is a

dream for any master blender, and it comes to show in the large variety of Bache-Gabrielsen’s

diverse range.
