Write the grant application

• Choose a clear and concise title; use the right buzz

words as they are used to select reviewers

• The abstract is the most critical part of the application

• Formulate a clear and relevant goal, be specific

– Avoid phrases like ‘want to improve insight into …’

– Pose a testable hypothesis

– Provide numbers (power calculation!)

• Design a plan of investigation that can achieve that goal

• Sell, but don’t oversell

• Be specific.
