International

Youth Gathering

2018

It is with great pleasure that the IPA Section UK announce

that the International Youth Gathering 2018 is to take

place in the United Kingdom.

It will be held between Monday 6th August and Sunday 19th

August 2018.

For the participants it is an opportunity to experience travel

to another country and to meet people of a similar age from

different backgrounds whilst gaining a deeper knowledge

the hosting country.

The International Youth Gathering programme conforms to

the international spirit and aims of the International Police

Association.

Participation in the programme is open to the children or

grandchildren of current IPA members. IYG participants

must have reached 16 years but not have exceeded 18

years at the start of the IYG - this is to make it easier for the

Organising Section to produce an interesting and instructive

programme for participants of a similar age group.

Applicants should submit their application form by

31 March 2018

The first IPA

Motorcycle Group

event for 2018

will be a visit to

the Welsh TT.

Mick Marlow

, Motorcycle Group Secretary

It has not been staged for well over 50 years, but has

been resurrected and rebranded Welsh Road Race or

WelshRR and is being held over private roads in the

Brecon Beacons area of Wales, during the weekend of

4th and 5th August 2018.

At the moment, 6 IPA Motorcycle Group members have

expressed an interest in attending and have already booked

accommodation at The Premier Inn, Merthyr Tydfil,

CF48 4BB for the 3 nights of Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and

Sunday 5th August. This location is about 35 miles from the

race track.

The hotel is some 25 miles from Cardiff, 80 miles from

Tenby and the Pembrokeshire Coast and on the door step

of the Brecon Beacons.

Section UK National Golf

Championship, 2018

Yvonne McGregor

, Vice President (Sports and Social portfolio)

The IPA Section UK National Golf Championship will be held in Scotland in 2018.

The dates are Wednesday, 30 May and Thursday, 31 May. First tee time on the

Wednesday will be 1400 hours and 1006 hours on the Thursday.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that we will be playing at Blairgowrie Golf Club

on two of the finest Championship Golf Courses in Scotland. The Lansdowne Course

hosted the Scottish Golf Amateur Championship in 2013 and the PGA Championship

Final in 2014. A course which “provides a challenging but pleasurable test for all

levels of golfers”. The famous Rosemount Course, was the venue for Greg Norman’s

first European tour victory. The design was influenced by the architect of the Augusta

National course. Described as “giving the golfer a testing and rewarding challenge”.

Each Region is requested to enter a Team of 4 players. Some Regions hold qualifying

competitions and this is encouraged, but not essential.

Only 1 Team per Region will be entered into the Team competition, but there is no

restriction on the number of players from each region competing for the individual

competition and prizes. Stableford format will be played on both days.

Accommodation will be at the Milton Royal Hotel, Blairgowrie, which is a 5 minute

drive from the Golf Club.

The cost for 1 night at the Hotel, 2 rounds of golf, dinner on the Wednesday evening

at the golf club and a light lunch on Thursday, again at the golf club will cost £145pp

for 2 sharing a twin room. Single room with golf etc. will be £153pp. These are

excellent prices as a round of golf on each course is normally £85. The prices also

include a subsidy from National.

Additional nights are available at the Hotel should you require to extend your stay. The

Hotel is situated in the centre of the town and there are many restaurants and bars

within walking distance.

If you require any more information on the Golf Competition or if you are planning

on being in Scotland for an extended period and want to play other golf courses,

and to make a booking to enter the Championship, then please contact me on
