FISH FACE
This forlorn-looking face of a four-day-old
zebrafish embryo represents “a whole new
avenue of research” for geneticist Oscar Ruiz,

level. A new technique, developed by Ruiz
and colleagues at the University of Texas MD
Anderson Cancer Center, mounts embryos
in a gel to allow for clear, head-on pictures.
