Conclusions
Based on experimental observations:
•
Traditional models for cell survival after radiation
may overestimate the cell kill (especially with high
dose per fraction)
•
In addition to direct radiation cell kill, there may be
indirect cell kill related to
–
Vascular effects and
–
Immune effects
•
Chemotherapy may enhance SBRT induced cell kill
•
Hypoxia should not be ignored
