HAPPY FEBRUARY!

Thank you to the Romans for their mid-

February fertility celebrations, which

were the pre-Valentine’s Day

celebrations. In an effort to

Christianize these celebrations, the

Catholic Church began celebrating these

events. By the mid 1300’s, February 14

was associated with “love” as it was

thought 2/14 was the beginning of birds

mating season. Fast forward to today, and

celebrate Valentine’s Day with Chocolate

Lava Cake and ice cream!

Chocolate is still the favorite flavor for

Valentine’s Day. With this simple

Chocolate Lava Cake, you can spend your

time making dinner or return home from

eating out to a warm, yummy dessert.

Remember to pick up some ice cream to

partner with this chocolaty goodness.

The Crocked Pot

HOCOLATE LAVA CAKE

12 servings

1 box Devil’s Food Cake Mix-Regular Size

1 2/3 C water

3 large eggs

1/3 C canola oil

2 C cold 2% milk

1 package (3.9oz) instant chocolate

pudding mix

2 C (12 oz bag) semisweet chocolate chips

In a large bowl, combine cake mix,

water, eggs and oil. Beat on low

speed for 30 seconds. Beat on

medium speed for 2 minutes.

Transfer to a greased or crock pot

liner 4qt. slow cooker.

In another bowl, whisk milk and

pudding mix for 2 minutes. Let

stand for 2 minutes or until soft-

set. Spoon over cake batter.

Sprinkle with chocolate chips.

Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours

until a toothpick inserted in cake

portion comes out with moist crumbs.

Serve warm.
