Bispebjerg Hospital.
On March 2nd 1908, the Town Council of Copenhagen
sanctioned the erection of a new hospital in the north part
of Copenhagen, the so-called »Bispebjerg« situated on the
outskirts of the Metropolis.
The Hospital is to be built for 1 278 beds, and the
expenditure for its erection is calculated at £ 503 000, not
including the purchase of the building site and furnishihg,
th at is, about £ 394 per bed. The total area is about
207 000 sq. m. (51,12 acres) or 162 sq. m. per bed.
The Hospital is intended for a uniform rate of payment
only. The patients are distributed in two surgical and four
medical divisions.
The Hospital being situated on the outskirts of the
town, only small out-patient departments will be arranged
for the present.
The Hospital will be built on the Pavilion system with
12 two-storied pavilions, each containing about 104 beds,
the buildings being connected by subterranean tunnels. The
sick-ward Pavilions will contain a dwelling for one senior
nurse only, for all other officials living on the premises of
the Hospital, aceomodation must be provided outside the
Pavilions.
The Hospital is situated on the south-eastern slope of
the Bispebjerg hill, as indicated on the annexed plan of site.
