For Honor
is (another) brand-new IP from the
folks at Ubisoft. An action hack-and-slash title,
you pick your side in the Viking/Samurai/Knight
war, and then shove a blade through the head
of anyone who disagrees.
The game utilises a sophisticated combat
system that's hard not to fall in love with. The
Art of Battle focuses on blocking and guarding
as opposed to a "best defence is a good offense' approach,
necessitating a more calculated attack.
Thrown into the fray in the campaign is Apollyon, a Knight who
thrives on war. It's your job to try and take her down, and you play
as a number of different Factions and their subsequent classes,
which is a great veiled tutorial for the impressive multiplayer.
Which brings us to the bread and butter of
For Honor
. The
multiplayer includes a bunch of different modes – our personal
favourite is Elimination – and all fights contribute to the Faction
War. There really is something for every fantasy-loving swords/
katana/axeman out there.
For Honor
is a solid first entry in a hopefully burgeoning
franchise, and one hell of a stress relief outlet.
