TO THE FIRST A..MEBIO.A.N' EDITION'.
IT
is proper to offer a few prefatory remarks
in
regard to the nature and design of any work to
which the author would direct attention, showing
the object he had in view in presenting to the public
his
ideas as contained therein.
This

the result of many years' experience
of a practical distiller, manufacturer, and chemist in
Bordeaux and New York. Its design
