Ecosystems
A total of 47 sites were sampled across
coastal Abu Dhabi (8 natural mangroves,
7 planted mangrove sites aged 3-15
years, 5 salt marshes, 5 intertidal coastal
sabkha sites, 4 algal mats and 18 seagrass
meadows), with replication at each site,
to determine the carbon stock of these
ecosystems.
Sampling locations (Figure 6) were selected
to include the range of environment settings
along the Abu Dhabi coast, from sheltered
settings to offshore islands and in shallow
and deep water for seagrass.
