Proven planetary wire
and cable machines

Cortinovis Machinery produces stranding,
armouring and laying-up machines with
planetary gearing, for bobbins up to
630mm supported by bearings or, on
under-rollers, up to 3,000mm.
The field-proven planetary machine can
be used in many different applications:
• Armouring of energy and
communication cable with steel
wires
• Stranding of steel wires to produce
strand
• Closing of steel strands to produce
ropes
The machine, which is supported on
bearings, is of a modern design, for
bobbins up to 630mm. The under-rollers
design is used when the size of the cage
requires a distributed system of supports.
Different technical solutions are applied
on the basic machine, but always
with the target of robust, reliable and
operator-friendly construction.
Total back-twist is provided by the
simple and reliable detorsion ring; it
is also possible to work in torsion, as
typical for armouring with steel flat wires.
Partial back-twist is also possible, using
a separate motor and transmission with
pulleys and belts, for the production of
strands and ropes. The modular design
allows for different sizes and numbers of
bobbins:
• Planetary 01: The under-roller cage
can handle larger bobbins, from
710mm up to 3,000mm diameter.
The under-rollers are automatically
lubricated, made of the finest quality
material and designed for years of
trouble-free operation
• Planetary 02: The bearing cage is
a one-piece welded fabrication of
steel plates and tubes, annealed,
machined, balanced and supported
by large encircling bearings. The
advantage of this design is the rigid
rotor, reliable supports made with
roll bearings, easy alignment, and
no maintenance of rollers

The latest development in the
Tapeformer range is a mounting table.
The two sizes of adjustable table will
accommodate all sizes of Tapeformer:
the smaller table will take models
A to D (5mm to 75mm tape width) and
the larger takes models E to G (76mm
to 210mm).
The tables are easy to install with a
height adjustment on entry and exit
to ensure that the Tapeformer runs
correctly. Ordering the right size is
simple, needing only the choice of large
or small and the height of the centreline
of the extruder from the floor.
Tapeformers are manufactured to
individual needs, and suit all types of
cable and cable machinery running at
line speeds of up to 200m per minute.
