Dual Energy or Spectral CT
• Dual energy CT is a technique that (potentially) provides
better tissue visualization and characterization compared
to single energy CT.
• Dual energy CT can be achieved by either generating or
detecting x-ray spectra beams with two different (average)
x-ray photon energies.
• Dual energy CT works best when there is a large
difference in atomic numbers, such as iodine-based
contrast agents and normal tissue.
