SENIOR CLASS
The Golden Jubilee Year of Reverend Mother Rosalie Hill ...
its joys and special significance marking our freshman year, a year
of shiny newness and just a little trepidation. Strangeness of getting
accustomed to college life quickly tempered by such events as lunch
at N.A.S. Miramar ... the sponsorship of the freshman supper
dance . . . and evidence of our growing unity in the production of
an operetta, the much applauded and highly successful "H.M.S.
PINAFORE." The youth of the year passing away ... its coming
to a swift and breathless close.
In its wake, the end of summer brought our sophomore year, and
a slightly more organized theme underlining the round of activities.
College becoming routine now ... we are able to give sage advice
to "little sisters." Finals in January concluded, we were found
speeding up the Coast to Newport Beach for a weekend of non–
academic though well deserved pleasures. Then, before we knew
it, our largest contribution to the spring social calendar was near ...
the Bal des Fleurs at which vivid birds of paradise marked the key–
note for an unforgettable evening ...
Juniors now, and not quite believing it, we immediately found
ourselves planning the traditional fall informal dance ... choosing
a theme of Autumn Leaves. Thanksgiving baskets next on the
agenda ... followed by increasing interest in the symphony ...
pre-parties with very many representatives from our always inter–
ested class in attendance at performances. We were to be noticed
again, this time at the stadium, cheering the Men's College team ...
joining the rest of the University for after-game parties. Christmas
fell suddenly about us, bringing with its joyful festivities, an addi–
tional and wonderful remembrance in the form of class rings at the
annual Christmas party. A clothing drive ushered in the second
semester ... followed by a "demand performance" of the beloved
"Pinafore" ... then, the Junior Fashion Show climaxed a year that
could only be described as busy, delightful, and unbelievably active.
Again the September return ... our Senior beach party, recall–
ing many hot dogs, sand, much laughter and mutual surprise that
so quickly, we had reached the pinnacle of the college ladder ...
soon after, the presentation of the first mixer, a welcome back and
a success. Our interest awakened once more by the call for support
of the Convent in Formosa by Our Mother General. And at last,
Genevieve Condon, Vice President;
Mother
C.
McShane, Class Counsellor;
Colleen Lynch, Treasurer, Gretchen Ger–
hart, President; and Angel Bocchino,
Secretary.
