REVIEW

T

hose familiar with gaming mice will be

aware of all the ways companies try

to draw you in – DPI, tracking, pretty

lights, ‘ergonomic design’ – but it ultimately

comes down to what you as a consumer need

from your hardware.

Corsair’s latest innovation is as close as

you’re going to get to a ‘one size fits all’

gaming mouse. The peripheral

comes boxed with two

extra, interchangeable

magnetic thumb rests –

meaning three choices

in total – allowing

you to change it up

and have it feel the way you

want. The three different sizes

allow the user to customise

the mouse to the set-up they

prefer, offering real comfort

and versatility; there’s a notable

difference when you line it up

against other, less flexible mice.

The Glaive boasts 16,000DPI

tracking (which is over the top, but

the high-end standard nowadays),

and features some of the best

lag-free scrolling we’ve seen in a mouse,

thanks to its aluminium scroll wheel. It has its

own surface calibration, meaning it will adjust

to whatever surface you’re

using it on, as well as

on-board profile storage.

The Glaive has 8mb of

storage for your lighting

and macro profiles, saving

you the hassle of having to

download software if you want

to plug it in somewhere

else, while still personalised to your

preferences.

Of course, if you want

to talk software, there’s

Corsair’s Utility Engine (CUE)

that allows you to set up

lighting and macro configurations on the

mouse, giving you the most customised

experience possible. It’s got all the bells

and whistles you expect, allowing you

to alter the Glaive’s three lighting zones

and play with all the macro settings.

The Glaive also makes great use of

an easily accessible sensitivity switch

on the top, allowing you to change

between five sensitivity settings on

the fly. The hardware, too, features

sturdy Omron switches that are built to

withstand 50,000 button presses, so

you won’t have to replace the mouse

anytime soon.

Corsair’s Glaive is one of the most

comfortable mice we’ve ever used.

Thanks to the three interchangeable

thumb grips on the inside left, you’ll be

able to find a comfortable way to hold and

use the mouse with no issues at all, and

customise it to your heart’s content. You’re

set to enjoy fatigue-free gaming, however

long you play.

Corsair have just launched a shiny new gaming

mouse.We

took the new

Glaive RGB for a spin to see if it’s worth picking up.
