Relationships take time and effort. That's why
it's good to see two stories in this issue, one more
personal, one corporate.
The first is Robert 'Gary' Jones celebrating 40 years
with Southern Wire. It's a rare thing these days to
find an employee who will remain loyal to the
company he or she has worked for for so long, but
both parties can be justifiably proud in this case
that one suits the other perfectly.
The management of the company are to be
endorsed for providing Gary with the opportunity
to have trained all the employees, passing on his
considerable knowledge to other members of staff
and schooling them in the ways of Southern Wire,
as well as, no doubt, adding just a touch of his own
enthusiasm into the proceedings. See page 12
The second story is the 90
th
anniversary celebration
for Gavitt Wire and Cable, a family firm through and
through, who are quite rightly giving themselves
a pat on the back at the moment for hitting this
memorable milestone. It's impressive that the
company has adapted down the years and
despite the competition from abroad, continues to
thrive. This story is on page 16
