The Lapa Solar Park in the north-eastern state of Bahia in

Brazil has begun operation – twomonths ahead of schedule.

Enel, through its Brazilian renewable subsidiary Enel Green

Power Brasil Participações, invested $175m in the project

which is designed to generate some 340GWh per year, and

is the first of four contracts awarded to the company to go

Southwire has launched a new multi-strand aluminum

cable, said to offer installation, cost and safety advantages

that make it particularly suitable for down tower wind

turbine applications.

Multi-strand aluminum cable is more flexible than similar

aluminum cables and, because of its flexibility, the cable

can be connected to the electrical access boxes inside a

tower without needing an extra splice and connector. Costs

are reduced by the use of aluminum, which is generally

cheaper than copper. The cable has been tested with the

standard oils used in wind turbines. You can read the full
