MR. NICHOLAS J. DOWNES, Solicitor, died
upon the 29th August, 1915, at his residence,
Belvue, Mullingar.
Mr. Downes served his apprenticeship with
the late Mr. James D. Meldon, 14 Upper
Ormond Quay, Dublin, was admitted in
Michaelmas Term, 1876, and practised at
Mullingar.
MR. MICHAEL C. O'HALLORAN, Solicitor,
died upon the 1st September, 1915, at
Skerries.
Mr. O Halloran served his apprenticeship
with the late Mr. John F. Cullinan, 61
Blessington Street, Dublin, was admitted in
Easter Sittings, 1879, and practised formerly
at Ennis and latterly at 61 Blessington Street,
Dublin.

MR. HUGH V. KENNEDY, Solicitor, died
upon the 19th September, 1915, at his
residence, 3 Great Denmark Street, Dublin.
Mr. Kennedy served his apprenticeship
with his father, the late Mr. James B.
Kennedy, 5 Great Denmark Street, Dublin,
was admitted in Trinity Term, 1860, and
practised at 3 Great Denmark Street, Dublin.
MR. GEORGE L. MACLAINE, Solicitor, died
upon the 5th October, 1915, at his residence,
Wandsworth House, Strandtown, Belfast.
Mr. MacLaine served his apprenticeship
with the late Mr. James Andrews, Belfast,
was admitted in Hilary Term, 1858, and
practised formerly in partnership with the
late Mr. James Andrews (under the style of
Andrews and MacLaine), subsequently in
partnership with the late Mr. Omar C. Nelson,
and latterly in partnership with Mr. William
H. N. Nelson (under the style of George L.
MacLaine & Co.) at Belfast.
In the year 1874 Mr. MacLaine was
appointed to the office of Clerk of the Crown
for County Down, and in 1878 he was
appointed to the united office of Clerk of the
Crown and Peace for the County, which
position he occupied up to the time of his
death.
Mr. MacLaine was an Extra-ordinary
Member of the Council from 1902 to 1904.
MR. JOHN H. H. GILTRAP, Solicitor, died
upon the 18th October, 1915.
Mr. Giltrap served his apprenticeship with
Mr. Charles H. Chaytor (of the firm of Messrs.
Montgomery and Chaytor), 13 Molesworth
Street, Dublin, was admitted in Michaelmas
Sittings, 1907, and practised at 35 South
Frederick Street, Dublin.
MR. WILLIAM BROWNE, Solicitor died upon
the 19th October, 1915, at Priory Place, New
Ross, County Wexford.
Mr. Browne served his apprenticeship with
the late Mr. William Scallan, 17 Bachelor's
Walk, Dublin, was admitted in Hilary
Sittings, 1886, and practised at New Ross.
MR. WILLIAM McCuNE, Solicitor, died upon
the 23rd October, 1915, at his residence, 73
Harold's Cross, Dublin.
Mr. McCune served his apprenticeship with
the late Mr. Edward D. Atkinson, Tanderagee,
was admitted in Hilary Term, 1872, and
practised formerly at Tanderagee and latterly
at 11 Chancery Place, Dublin.

GEOFFREY
PERSSE,
Solicitor, 9th Wellington Regiment, New
Zealand Expeditionary Force, was killed in
action at the Dardanelles on the 7th August,
1915.
Corporal Persse served his apprenticeship
with Sir Benjamin Whitney, 46 Kildare
Street, Dublin, was admitted in Trinity
Sittings, 1909, and practised at Galway for
two years, and subsequently went to New
Zealand.
PRIVATE WILLIAM PUREFOY BRIDGE,
Solicitor, of " D " Company, 7th Battalion,
Royal Dublin Fusiliers, died of wounds
received in action at the Dardanelles, on the
10th August, 1915.
Private Bridge served his apprenticeship
with Mr. Henry R. Tweedy, 13 Hume Street,
Dublin, was admitted in Hilary Sittings,
1906, and practised at 18 St. Stephen's
Green, Dublin.
CAPTAIN JOHN VALENTINE DUNN, Solicitor,
of the 7th Battalion, Royal Munster Fusiliers,
was killed in action at the Dardanelles on
the 15th August, 1915.
Captain Dunn served his apprenticeship
with his father, Mr. James V. Dunn, 60
