New President of the

Circuit Court

The Hon. Mr. Justice Frank Spain has been

appointed President of the Circuit Court. Judge

Spain holds a Batchelor of Civil Law Degree

(U.CD

., 1967) and was called to the Bar, Kings

Inns, in 1968. He was called to the Inner Bar

in 1980. He has practised in Dublin and on the

Eastern Circuit in the areas of criminal law and

personal injury actions. He was appointed a

judge in July, 1987.

the court. Sentencing is one of the most important areas

of criminal law and one in which there are very few reported

cases. This volume includes such cases.
