Background

Staphylococcal enterotoxins are pyrogenic 

proteins that lead to toxic shock and respiratory 

distress due to inhalation.

Symptoms 90 minutes‐24 hours post aerosol 

exposure fever, headache, muscle aches, 

pulmonary and GI symptoms.

Biothreat agent due to universal availability and 

lack of discernment between other syndromes 

or diseases.

Initial aerosol exposure studies performed with 

SEB only, SEA & SEC shown later to have similar 

effects.
