Cristina Cernei is an independent designer from Bucharest, Romania.
Her designs are the result of countless experimentation and development. Her story with the
fashion world started in a 1930’s style appartment having a small exclusive boutique which later
developed into her own line of clothing and then fully equiped atelier.
Pure passion, hard work and a keen eye for detail have gradually gained her an established
reputation as one of the most original and exclusive designers. Her customer base ranges from in-
dependent artists to ambassadors, from musicians to architects or doctors, thus proving an abili-
ty to meet a wide range of taste and to adapt to many occasions. So there’s no wonder that some of
these customers have turned her boutique into their personal go-to shopping destination whenever
in Romania. Being a self taught artist, Cristina Cernei prides herself with a restless curiosity and
an open mind to all that’s new and innovative. Always in motion, excited by new technologies, we’re
always looking for a fresh way to create amazing and creative garments. Each and every design -
ranging from complex to simple, functional and elegant - is personalized and made unique, a service
that we offer to all our clients, by choice of material, colors, and decorations. We really like to encour-
age using fashion as a means to express peronality and that is why we treat our garments with great
care. This attention for detail and the idea of uniqueness has led us to giving individual names to all of
our designs, making the whole fashion experience an extremely personal one.
Her style focuses on intricate patterns blending with a variety of fabrics that get to be applied,
painted or folded onto equally impressive designs. At first glance, the recurring motives that you will
notice are origami style folds taking the shapes of fashion designs, hand-painted decorations and her
intricate hand-made lace and embroidery application. The trained eye will also notice beyond this
first layer and see the underlying natural fabrics with the precise and delicate cuts of an experienced
patternmaker. Some of the designs have multi-functional features, meaning that by their very nature
they are made to be worn in more than one way. By pulling a string, tying a knot, folding a side or
just pulling it over your arms an overall becomes a jacket and a vest. Never trying to fit in , Cristina
Cernei manages to create a feminine style that is beyond fleeting trends, offering her customers flatter-
ing designs that never go out of fashion
Her designs have been market tested and verified in her boutique in Bucharest called “Fusion
by Cernei”. We’ve been also invited to collaborate with several concept stores in Romania and we have
also opened our own internet boutique on where we sell some of Cristina’s designs.
Although she’s making her international debut at Margin in February, 2011 ,Cristina is not exactly
new to London, as she had the wonderful ocassion to exhibit her glamouros designs during the Spring
Summer 2012 London Fashion Week at the official off schedule show for emerging new talents. Her
designs were recieved with critical acclaim.
All of her designs are either unique or created in limited edition, redy to were but we’re always
looking for exciting new ideas.
