Babo Botanicals
F
or the summer month of July, Select is proud to
shine a warm and bright spotlight on a brand that
has an endearing and touching
story behind its unique origin.
Babo Botanicals was founded by a
passionate entrepreneur and loving
mother, Kate Solomon, whose
story goes way back to her early
childhood years.
Growing up, one of the first things Kate can recall is greatly
looking up to her father, a beekeeper, and how his love for
bees always left her in awe and inspired. Her newfound
passion for beekeeping coupled with her interest in
sustainable agriculture motivated Kate to take things to
another level. After studying at Harvard University, Kate
journeyed off to the Peace Corps, where she brought her
extensive knowledge
and experience with
beekeeping with her, and
shared it with women in
Paraguay in order to
open them to new and
innovative ways of
“financial and nutritional
support for their families.”
Once her time with the Peace Corps soon came to an end,
Kate found herself in the States again, where she took the
skincare and hair industry by storm as a product developer
for big brand names such as L’Oréal, Avon, and Redken.
Kate’s thriving and successful career was soon welcomed by
little bundles of joy, and before she knew it, her time and
energy shifted to focusing on taking care of her new family.
It was when Kate entered motherhood that led her to
question the types of products she was offering to her
children. From tediously long lists of ingredients to words
she couldn’t pronounce, Kate had an uneasy feeling about
the type of things she was allowing her children to have.
Looking at the market for children’s hair and skincare
products, she realized there was minimal to no offering when
it came to products that were composed of safe, certified
organic ingredients.
That is when Kate decided
to search deeper into her
entrepreneurial spirit,
and soon enough she was
seeking out top botanists
to help her create a line
of “effective, high performing hair and skincare products”,
which were all made on an organic farm in Upstate New
York. Kate even used her children’s favorite toy, Babo the
bunny, as a muse for her brand’s name. She loved how
safe and comfortable Babo made her children feel, and she
wanted her brand and products to represent just that.
As Kate hit the market with her innovative and high quality
products, she immediately experienced high demand that
ultimately led her to expand her line, which now offers
products that are suitable for the entire family. Not only
do her products contain safe, organic, and high-quality
ingredients, they come in a variety of scents and purposes.
From fragrant lavender to soothing cucumber and aloe vera
for sensitive or dry skin, Babo Botanicals makes sure that its
brand offers something for everyone to use and enjoy.
