ULSTER TAKES ‘BIG STEP FORWARD’
WITH MENCAP
The pre-kick off chat amongst supporters, the
anticipation, the roar of the crowd as we ‘Stand
Up for the Ulstermen’, the edge-of-your-seat
stuff in between, the hoping for a win and
experiencing the craic.
And tonight is no different as we welcome
Glasgow Warriors to Belfast for this Guinness
PRO12 game, except for one big thing. This is
the first game that Mencap in Northern Ireland
can proudly stand up and say that we are
Ulster Rugby’s Official Charity Partner for the
2014/15 season.
Mencap’s Big Step Forward Appeal
This is fantastic news for people with a learning
disability, as Ulster Rugby will be supporting
our Big Step Forward Appeal to build, equip
and run our new Children and Families’ Centre.
The new centre will open in January 2016 and
at its heart will be our nursery for two to four
year-olds with a learning disability, autism or
developmental delay. This is currently located
in Segal House, an ageing Victorian building
on Annadale Avenue, which isn’t too far from
here.
As Ulster Rugby’s charity partner and with the
support of the wider rugby community, we
urgently need your help to raise the £1.7 million
to make this dream a reality for the children
and their families. You can help us tonight by
texting a donation or by giving to one of our
Mencap collectors around the stadium.

difference to future generations. It will cost £4.6
million to build, equip and run. With £3 million
already secured, we have a £1.7 million gap
