THE ACCESSORY DREAM GUIDE
45
THE FAZI BUILD
FEATURED VEHICLE
Barry McKay calls his 1987 Toyota
pickup “The Fazi Build” and build it he
did. He states: “All of the work on this
truck has been completed by myself
aside from the drive shafts, mounting/
balancing tires and alignments.”
When you read the long list of mods,
you’ll agree that this is an amazing
accomplishment for a do-it-yourselfer.
He has a dream: “I have always wanted to be able to build a vehicle
that can go anywhere I go when it comes to adventure and exploration.
This build is still very much in progress”.
This Coquitlam, BC native is busy with
“day trips and camping excursions,
mainly off the beaten path. Over-
landing trips are the most fun but
they only happen once or twice a
year. I always like to attend meets
and shows to compare builds with
other enthusiasts into the same things
as myself.”
There are 2 accessories he likes best: “My favourite by far is the Roof
Top Tent from Tepui Tents. It makes camping so comfortable and sets
up and folds up in a matter of seconds. My second favorite is the dual
transfer cases. I can hop out and walk beside the truck over almost
any obstacle on the trail.”
Barry’s plans now show how technically
adept he has become: “I am currently
fairly deep into an engine swap with a
4.7L V8 Toyota Tundra 2UZ-FE as well as
an extended cab swap to get some
extra space. This swap will include a
full frame off restoration (again) and
a full paint job.”
